Another Daiso Trip!!!

I have done it again!!! Splurged at Daiso.... I came in with one purpose in mind, Eyelashes, but I left with dessert shaped erasers, some socks, and a small stationary set. Several other things found their way to my basket, so I fought the urge of wanting to buy things that perhaps would just end up sitting on my dresser....Any way, after having my small shopping spree at Daiso (If it can be called a shopping spree at all) I went to go get lunch at Simply Noodle, a Vietnamese Noodle house in the same plaza on 17170 Colima Blvd Ste F, in the city of Hacienda Heights, Ca. The noodles were good, though it was missing some flavor. I plan to go there again and hopefully try other things off their menu. Also, if you check in with Yelp, you get a free drink. So check it out! After the meal, you can wash it down with a delicious pastry from 85* Bakery.

So much pain!!!!

Evil, evil shoes! And I really trusted these shoes... you guys know that horrible dilemma when you wear really cute shoes, and after walking for a while, you get really nasty blisters on the back of your foot, where the rim of your shoe was rubbing? Well, that happened to me, even after taking the precautions to avoid that from happening and these are flats that I have worn before with no pain before, I wore them with the foot slips you're supposed to wear with flats so your feet to sweat like crazy and cause horrifying blisters. Even still, today, my shoes hurt. I guess you can say this post looks like a rant, well that is because it is a rant.... grr!

Well, on a brighter note. . . Happy first day of Autumn or Fall, or whichever way you call it! It is finally the end of summer, hopefully no more scorching days in LA, though its California, so it technically Summer all year round! Yey for Summer! But still, I am soo exited for Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, I'm specially really exited for pumpkin everything! Oh and this the season for chai tea!!! I'm a tea person, and every season has its teas, and well fall, chai is your tea. Cinnamon is also perfect for the season, ooh! and Apple Pies! I have to make sure to go to Glenn Oaks this year again!! So look forward to my experience with that, if I am able to go.... it's still currently a maybe.

Hilary Duff is Back!!!!

Ok, so I just had to write about and I do not care that I am a day late... but still, I had to do  it. I have no choice, but I am really happy that Hilary Duff is back. I grew up watching her on Disney Channel's Lizzie McGuire and I got to listen to her music during high school. Well, i got to say, good job Hilary, Chasing the Sun, is actually pretty catchy, it's a great summer anthem, so why shouldn't it, right? (I already got my copy on iTunes).

This is a rather short entry today, and I am still trying to find time to write more and update my blog more often.

Victorian Fair 2014

Fair ladies and gents strolled through the Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum in the City of Industry, CA, in Victorian clothing (April 26 & 27, 2014 to be exact).
 No time travel required!
The event featured Victorian fashions and dance demonstrations & lessons of the Victorian era.
They also had the usual historical house tours.
The top floors were closed off for the event, but they are open during regular tours, so check it out the museum if you are ever in the City of Industry.
On Saturday, Karen Wade, director of the Homestead Museum did a storytelling of, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" for children and their families.
Before the storytelling, she gave a brief explanation of what the Victorian era was.
Around the premises, there were also gentlemen in Victorian bicycles... I'm still curious how they can keep their balance on that giant wheel.
There were also plenty of booths around the event as well, including one that taught about the language of
flowers, and how they were used to send a message to a person.
You know if you accepted the bouquet of flowers, it meant a positive message for the person giving you the flowers, while the left hand... well, it was a way of saying, "No thank you." or "I'm not interested."
But you still got to keep the bouquet.
Ouch!
Also, THE No.1 CURRYWURST Truck of Los Angeles , as well as Bakerytruck OC was there to serve up some delicious food, as well as a third food truck (that I wasn't able to try, sorry, guys).
By the way,  found out you can customize your own Bakerytruck OC cream puff (I mixed peanut butter, Nutella, Raspberries, and bananas... give it a try, it's a good combination)
The Homestead Museum holds multiple events through the year, including a Roaring 20s fair in the fall (I'll try to review that as well), and the next event at the museum is Summer Picnicking, on May 10, call (626)968-8492 for more info on that event. I'll see if I can blog on that if reservations aren't filled up.

LA K-Pop Festival

So last Saturday was amazing! I got to see SHINee, CNBLUE, 2PM, and many more K-Pop stars at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a concert celebrating the 111th Anniversary of Korean American Immigration.
The event was held by the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles in collaboration with KBS Korea and KBS America.
The best thing about the event was that it was free, TicketMaster sold tickets for this event a while back, limiting two tickets per person. I got pretty lucky in being able to go since I wasn't able to get a ticket when they came out (my friend invited my to go with him, thanks a bunch Kuan!!!).
Before the big concert, there was a festival with food trucks, several Korean food vendors (Including the swirly potato vendor), and some merchandise booths, which I managed to purchase a BTS poster. Sadly, I wasn't able to buy food from the vendors, the lines were huge and it was hot... and I was hungry and I didn't want to wait too long... but I regret not getting a swirly potato.... :'(  (next time...)
My friend Tawny Nuna was amazed at the event and had a great time dancing to K-pop idols, "I thought the concert was amazballz under a beautiful bright moon and clear cool evening."
Don't credit me on this, but I heard that the event will be televised on KBS, so you guys should check your local listings for that.
I really hope another event like this is held again, hopefully next year. If they do, you guys who weren't able to make it this time, you should treat yourself and immerse yourself in some Korean culture.

Beauty Bargains (Part 1)

 "If you are going to buy beauty products, make sure you get the stuff." that's what my mother would say whenever we used to go to the mall and she would buy her Estee Lauder products (she still does and at 51 years of age, she can closely pass for 45). Well, as much as I would love to follow my mom's advice, I can't, not as a sophomore in college, so I have to look for cheaper alternatives (coupons are a girl's best friend!). 

In a previous post I mentioned about going to Daiso Japan, well, I went again and I found looking through the beauty section and I found beauty masks. 2 for $1:50! That's 75 cents each! Normally I pay around $2 per mask at a Japanese beauty store at Yes Plaza in Rowland Heights (I'll write about that place later!). 

So, should you go for the bargain on this product, or should you just go and pay $2 per mask?

Okay, the bargain is good, as a matter of fact, it was great. For $1.50, the quality was comparable to the $2 masks, so yes I would say, if you want to save and you don't really care what fragrance it is, go with the Daiso Japan brand. I'll probably go back and stock up on more of these, but at the same time I like to pick from a wide variety of fragrances I find at the beauty store. I guess I'll buy either brand, depending on what part of town I'm in.

Christmas is... Performance by Citrus College Performing Arts Students

The performing arts students at Citrus College concluded their semester with a joyful performance today.
 From the Citrus Singers to the Vocal Ensemble and to finish things off with a magnificent Christmas play featuring beloved fairytale characters as well as everyone's favorite Holly Jolly Santa Claus.
Every year, Citrus Performing Arts has been holding this event, and this was my first time attending it, as well as playing a part in the production, which I must say, it was a really rewarding experience.
Christmas favorites livened up the auditorium as patrons and guests sang along to holiday classics. Most of the performances of "Christmas is..." seem to be a full house, many of the guests having attended to previous performances at the Haugh Performing Arts Center.
I would have love to have taken some pictures to show you guys how amazing the event was, but like most performances, film or pictures where not allowed.
But I am well assured, that of all the people who attended, will greatly remember this day for a long time to come, as well as their children, whom many got to go onstage with the cast and hear Santa Claus sing!
The tickets were $27 for general admission, $22 for Seniors and Students, and Students from the college were able to get tickets for $12.
For the price, it was well worth it, the production was full of professionalism, so much that it was sometimes hard to believe that most of the people part of the production were still students (I mean this in a great way, and if anyone you guys reading my blog are from Citrus College and where part of the production, like I said, you were full on 100% professional on stage and I certainly look forward to what ever you guys do.)
Those who weren't able to attend the performance, it is a real treat if you guys decide to come to next years performance, there is a lot of things a person has to do at least once in their life time, and "Christmas Is..." is a performance that in my opinion belongs on that list.

Happy Holidays, from the Riverside Festival of Lights!

The holidays are well among us, and with a few days 'til Christmas, you can really feel the holiday cheer. Wal-Mart crowded with mothers, fathers, grandparents, and even children looking for gift ideas at the last few days before St. Noel comes to town. Are any of you guys ready, or are you still running from store to store finding the best deals for the holidays? I feel pretty accomplished this holiday season, except for a few things here and there. ((Oi, I'm telling you guys, my wallet likes to play pretend this season, his favorite role, the onion.....))

So, how are you guys spending the holidays?

Hot Cocoa? Gingerbread cookies? Peppermint mocha (one of the reasons I really look forward for this time of year)? or perhaps, some of you guys have experienced The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa's Festival of Lights in Riverside, California?

This was my first year attending the event, and my it was incredibly amazing and gorgeous! Over 4 million lights cover the mission, it is quite the spectable! And with a Gingerbread vendor next to the inn, it just makes the feeling of Christmas even more delightful, along with a soothing cup of hot chocolate.

If anyone finds themselves in the Riverside area, or in Southern California during the holidays, you must simply visit this place and let you eyes soak in the spectacle of lights, and enjoy some of the Inn's fine dining or any of the amazing restaurants in the area.

Sorry for the Lack of Updates

Sorry you guys for the lack of the updates I have done to my blog!
I didnt have access to the internet for a while and I finally got a new phone, so I will be able to blog more often, yey!!!

"A Slice of New York" that is the motto that Omar's Pizzeria goes by to describe their pizza.

It's been a year since Omar's Pizzeria has opened and so far it has gotten positive feedback from customers

Omar's Pizzeria and Vino at Trios both have great pizza and personally I loved them both since the pizza crust is delish in both places, but both places offer a different pizza dining experience. If you are looking for sophistication and class then Vino at Trios is your spot, but if you are looking for something casual pizza dining, then Omar's Pizzeria is a great spot to visit after a long day when you just want to unwind and have a good slice of pizza

Vino At Trios

Pizza and wine! Two of my favorite things for under $20, was I dreaming? No! Vino At Trios a jewel in the city of Alhambra, has that and more!

 A small business in the area, that can easily be missed unless you have a person to guide you there, or you stumble upon while driving the streets of Alhambra.

"Vino is an amazing establishment with a great sophisticated atmosphere," Connie Alonzo, a frequent guest at Vino."You don't need to go far for the level of sophistication that you find at Vino."

I'm not from the area of Alhambra, but the trip to Vino was well worth it, and with a server like Jesus Evangelista, it is definitely a place that I will be hitting up again and bring a couple of friends to experience the delicious pizza, even people who aren't crust lovers (like me) will definitely gobble down Vino's pizza crust, their own recipe with rosemary and wine. 

So come to Vino and enjoy a great chorizo and clam pizza; addicting if I may add, and with a pleasant smoky flavor feel to it. And a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon; smooth tasting by the way! 

Vino's happy hour is a great time to come check it out (Tuesday- Friday 3m-6pm and all day Sunday, 3 - close), so even if you are on a budget there's no reason why you shouldn't treat yourself to Vino while you have Jazz music playing in the background.

Plus, I hear Vino holds several events in which you can try other kinds of wine, and on certain days they host belly dancing nights.

And of course, tax                    $1.08

$13.08 in total for pizza and wine, this place is a steal, especially during happy hour.

I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu.

Daiso

This week's Troddeling in Wonderland, I found myself going to Daiso Japan in the City of Hacienda Heights. Daiso is basically the Japanese version of Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Stores, although the prices at Daiso are mostly $1.50, unless otherwise noted, which personally it's not that bad for the variety of great merchandise they carry, most of which are Japanese, although on most items it says made in China, but its still good stuff for your dollar, especially when so many items are on the cute side that I could not resist picking a few items and making a mental shopping list of things to buy on my next visit. If any of you guys are ever in the Hacienda Heights, feel free to check out Daiso. Warning: Parking can get a bit scary, due the many eateries in the shopping area, some which are on my list of stopping by and checking them out, including a really cute bakery!
